The purpose of this group is simply watch movies together! Share our love for movies and make new friends! After the movie finish, we can share our thoughts about it. Why watch movies alone when we can share the pleasure right? :D If you are a movie lover, if you like independent movies or art in general!

Miracle in Milan - Vittorio di Sica (1951)

Hello everybody! I hope you had a great year :D The good weather is finally here, so we would like to invite you all to come enjoy Peng Chau island and our next movie night this Sunday 27th October. This one will be our first movie made in Italy, the movie is called "Miracolo a Milano" or "Miracle in Milan" (1951). The movie is a classic from the director Vittorio de Sica, a neorealist work in the Italian post-war era. It would also our first time projecting an European movie from the 1950's, so come and enjoy!

Redemption of the General - Leo Zhu (2021)

Hello everybody! I'm so happy to announce we are hosting a new series of movie projections this December :D Starting this Sunday 10th with projecting 4 different movies from young Hong Kong directors. (I will leave all the info of the directors down below) It's such a privilege to have such directors with us, so take the chance to come people! We will discuss with them their work and our thoughts after watching their work together.

1. Starting with 李澤恆 Frankie Lee and his movie 'Mamamoo' (2022) "Hidden Somewhere in the hillside and deep in the undergrowth, Fan Fan and his protective guardian Mamma live a simple life among ruins, but their existence is being threatened by the "hunters". Can Fan Fan and Mamamo find a way to evade their pursuers?"

2. Keep going with 梁浩倫 Riley Leung and his movie 'Blindfold' (2022) "The introverted and well-behaved Kai Leung has moved to a new house with his superstitious mother. Now enrolled in a new school and with the guidance of his class monitor., he develops a curiosity for heaven in hope of reuniting with his dead father there one day. However, the teachers and students at school who claim to be pious Christians decidedly gang up on him for being a heathen and an atheist. In retaliation Kai Leung summons in his mind, the powers from traditional Chinese deities and Gods as forces to counter against the unjust ostracization."

3. Next now will be 黃天城 Wong Tin-shing and his movie 'Little Miss Sweetie' (2022)'"Refused to play by the unspoken rules, former model Julie starts her own classy thirst trap modeling bussiness with hope to make a breaktrough. Things don't go as planned as a nude scandal breaks out. Overwhelmed by betrayal, unexpected gains and losses, Julie begins to rethink her business and her future."

4. Last movie is from the director 朱智立 Leo Zhu and his movie 'Redemption of the General' (2021) "After collapsing on stage, an aging Peking Opera actor travels to Hong Kong to search for an old childhood friend. He carries with him a bag of money and a crumpled photo because he has a burden of debt to fulfill before it's too late. Will this penance be paid in time?"

Kisapmata - Mike de Leon (1981)

Hello again! Our last projection was great and we would like to repeat that! Our fifth gathering will be on Sunday 26th November. This time I chose a Filipino movie called "Kisapmata" or "In the Wink of an Eye" (1981) from the director Mike de Leon. This movie is family thriller classic from the 80s. It looks like a great movie to debate! If this is your first time coming to the projection, we have been watching movies from Asia, one for each country. This one will be our movie to close the "Asian Movies" cycle, so I hope you can come and enjoy it!

The Maternal Heart - Pham Nhue Giang (2011)

Hello everybody and have a happy Mid Autumn Festival! Since February we haven't had any movie. But now we are here, our fourth gathering. We will have our fourth event next Sunday 22th October. On this occasion I chose a Vietnamese movie called "Tam Hon Me" or "The Maternal Heart" (2011) from the director Pham Nhue Giang. I thought about this movie because it shows another side of the 'mum and daughter' relationship. I hope we can watch the movie together and share our thoughts about it. Im sure it will give many options to discuss.

Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives - Apichatpong Weerasethakul (2010)

Hello one more time everybody! Sorry to make you wait for such a long time for our third gathering. We will have our third event next Saturday 25th March. On this occasion I chose a Thai movie called "Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives" (1995) from the director Apichatpong Weerasethakul. I have been intrigued by the believe in reincarnation and how this idea still affects the everyday life of many people. Let's see how it goes from there and what can we take from the view together.

301/302 - Park Cheol-su (1995)

Hello again everybody! So happy to see many people joining the group recently. We will have our second event next Sunday 7th August. This time will be a Korean movie called "301, 302" (1995) from the director Park Cheol-su. Somewhere on the internet define this movie as a "food psychological thriller", fun enough? We will start the movie at 7pm till 9pm in the common area of the hostel The Mahjong, To Kwa Wan. Entry is free of charge. We want to encourage discussion about the movie and its theme afterwards. We will prepare some questions so we can debate about it together! You can bring your own food too. Also if you have more ideas on how to make our experience more fun, feel free to share it!

After Life - Hirozaku Kore-eda (1998)

The premise of the movie is "If you could choose a memory for eternity, what would it be?". We will start the movie at 7pm till 9pm in the common area of the hostel The Mahjong, To Kwa Wan.
